Secret Beach Elopement Kauai, Hawaii

Getting the chance to photograph Brandon and Kalena in Kauai was an absolute dream! As a destination wedding photographer, I always jump at the opportunity to shoot in breathtaking locations, and Hawaii is truly one of those places that never fails to impress. Who doesn’t want to go to Hawaii? And when you have a couple as effortlessly beautiful and in love as Brandon and Kalena, it makes for an unforgettable session.

For this stunning shoot, we explored Kauapea Beach, more commonly known as Secret Beach. The name fits perfectly because of its “hidden” location. Unlike some of the more popular beaches in Kauai, Secret Beach requires a bit of an adventure to reach. You have to hike down a winding trail that takes you through what feels like a tropical jungle, surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of nature. But the moment you emerge from the trail, you’re rewarded with one of the most breathtaking beach views in all of Hawaii. The coastline stretches beautifully with golden sands, jagged cliffs, and the endless blue of the Pacific Ocean. It’s the kind of place that makes you stop and just soak it all in.

Kauai itself is known as the Garden Isle, and it’s easy to see why. The island is full of natural wonders, from waterfalls to canyons to these stunning secret beaches. It’s the perfect setting for an elopement or an intimate couple’s session. There’s something so magical about being surrounded by such untouched beauty—it makes every moment feel even more special.

Of course, even with all of these jaw-dropping backdrops, Brandon and Kalena’s connection was the true star of the session. Their love for each other outshined everything else, and it was such a joy to capture. I remember hearing one of them mention, “We are not models, we don’t know what we’re doing,” but you would have never guessed it by looking at the photos. Their chemistry was undeniable, and as soon as they started focusing on each other, everything else melted away. They laughed, they ran barefoot in the sand, and they embraced like no one else was watching. That’s the kind of authenticity I love to capture—the real, unfiltered moments that showcase a couple’s true connection

And we need to take a moment to talk about Kalena’s dress! She wore the most stunning gown from Rue De Seine Bridal, and it could not have been more perfect for this beach setting. The delicate lace, the bohemian silhouette, and the way it moved with the ocean breeze—it was pure magic. And as if the dress wasn’t already breathtaking enough, it also perfectly highlighted her tattoos, adding this extra layer of personality and uniqueness to her bridal look. I’m a firm believer that your wedding or elopement attire should reflect who you are, and Kalena absolutely nailed it.
