Some love stories unfold slowly, while others feel destined from the very beginning. For Ron & Yuying, their journey has already been marked by milestones both intimate and grand. After a small courthouse ceremony to make things official, they waited patiently for the moment when all their loved ones—especially Yuying’s family traveling from Taiwan—could gather together to celebrate their marriage in the most meaningful way.
That day finally arrived in Chicago, where Ron grew up and where his family still lives. The Chicago Botanic Garden was the perfect setting for their celebration—a place where every path feels like stepping into a secret garden. Surrounded by lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and the soft warmth of summer, their wedding day felt nothing short of magical.
A Garden Wedding Full of Heart
The design was effortlessly romantic, with a garden-inspired theme woven throughout the day. From the ceremony framed by flourishing florals to the reception filled with delicate, fragrant arrangements, every detail reflected Yuying’s timeless taste. There was an air of natural elegance that made the entire celebration feel both grand and intimate at once—like the garden itself was a witness to their vows.
What stood out most, though, was not just the beauty of the space but the people who filled it. Family and friends traveled from near and far to be there—some across continents—which made each hug, each toast, and each laugh shared feel even more significant.
Love That Feels Effortless
From the very first time Yuying reached out to me (she found me on Pinterest and immediately connected with my work!), I could tell how deeply she valued photography. She told me she was ready to make anything work to have me capture their day. That kind of trust is such an honor, and it allowed me to create space for Ron & Yuying to simply be themselves—fully present with the people they love most.
Their portraits among the gardens were full of quiet joy, candid laughter, and the kind of effortless romance that doesn’t need to be staged. It was a privilege to capture not only the beauty of the setting but the soul of their celebration.
A Celebration to Remember
The evening ended with twinkling lights, heartfelt speeches, and dancing that carried into the night. It was a wedding that blended cultures, families, and traditions in the most seamless way—a day that felt timeless, intentional, and true to who Ron & Yuying are together.
This was just the beginning of telling their story. The next day, we ventured into the city for a sunset session among Chicago’s iconic skyline—something I’ll be sharing in a separate post soon.
