Virginia Lakeside Elopement

Payton and Melford’s Wedding day did not look anything like what they had originally planned, but these two were not going to let anything stop them from saying I do! We may have had to switch to plan E, but it was no less special than the Big celebration that was supposed to take place! Due to Covid restrictions they went from a giant party at the Mariners Museum in Virginia to a Lakeside Elopement with only a few immediate family members. Thanks to today’s technology they were able to stream the ceremony to those that were not able to attend and a few friends might have showed up to cheer from a very far distance! If the location switch and limits on the amount of people in attendance wasn’t enough, the day of their wedding the weather was not looking so great. As we got ready to begin the ceremony it began to rain lightly and slowly began getting heavier, but like I said nothing could stop these two! They decided to move forward with the ceremony outside and even the weather could not dampen the love that was shining on their faces as they saw each other for the first time by the lake! Midway through the ceremony the rain stopped and the sun began to shine! Right after the ceremony finished Payton & Melford shared their first dance on the same dock where the ceremony took place. They then were able to have a Father daughter and Mother son dance on the dock. After the dancing we were able to go the park right by their original wedding venue and take their bridal portraits where we were originally supposed to. Despite all the changes the day was filled with happy tears and so much love!

Weddings may look a little different this year but they are every bit as special! I personally think that although the venue, flowers, and all the other little details that go into a wedding are great but that it really is all about the people! No matter what the day might look like, it will be special if you are surrounded by the ones you love!
