If you're dreaming of a wedding that feels timeless, stylish, and unmistakably Los Angeles, Downtown LA is one of the best places to begin your venue search. From historic architecture and rooftop skyline views to lush hidden gardens, Downtown Los Angeles offers some of Southern California's most iconic wedding venues.

As a Los Angeles wedding photographer, I've had the opportunity to photograph weddings at some incredible venues throughout the city, and three venues continue to stand out for couples looking for an elevated wedding experience: The Oviatt, Millwick by Marvimon, and The Alexandria Ballrooms.

Whether you're planning an intimate celebration or a grand black-tie affair, here's why these Downtown LA wedding venues deserve a spot on your list.

The Oviatt | Old Hollywood Meets Rooftop Romance

If you've ever dreamed of saying your vows surrounded by Art Deco architecture with the Los Angeles skyline as your backdrop, The Oviatt delivers one of the most unique wedding experiences in the city.

Originally built in 1928 as the private penthouse of James Oviatt, this historic venue seamlessly blends vintage glamour with modern sophistication. Couples can move effortlessly between the beautifully restored penthouse, complete with original Art Deco details, and the two-story rooftop terrace overlooking Downtown Los Angeles. The venue accommodates up to 120 guests, making it ideal for intimate and mid-sized celebrations.

Millwick | A Hidden Garden in the Heart of Downtown LA

Just a few minutes away, Millwick offers a completely different atmosphere.

Tucked inside the Arts District, this industrial venue surprises guests with a lush courtyard filled with mature greenery. Originally a warehouse, Millwick has been transformed into a modern indoor-outdoor venue with over 7,000 square feet of flexible event space, including an expansive garden courtyard that feels like a private oasis in the middle of the city.

The combination of exposed brick, clean architectural lines, and tropical landscaping makes it one of my favorite venues for couples looking for something contemporary while still feeling warm and inviting.

Millwick photographs beautifully at every stage of the day. The greenery softens the industrial architecture, creating a perfect balance of modern and romantic. Golden hour in the courtyard is especially beautiful, and the venue transitions seamlessly into a cozy, candlelit reception after sunset.

Best for: Couples who love modern design, greenery, and an effortlessly relaxed atmosphere.
