A Modern Garden Wedding at Millwick in Downtown Los Angeles

A Wedding Inspired by Food, Connection, and Shared Moments

One of the things I loved most about Nanna and Eugene’s wedding was how naturally it reflected the way they experience life together.

From the beginning, they weren’t focused on tradition—they were focused on creating something that felt true to them.

They envisioned a wedding that felt like a large, intimate dinner party. The kind of evening where people gather, linger, and stay fully present with one another.

Most of their time together is spent trying new restaurants or revisiting favorite spots, so centering their day around food, conversation, and connection felt like an extension of their relationship rather than a departure from it.

Choosing Millwick as their Los Angeles wedding venue allowed that vision to come to life in a way that felt both elevated and relaxed.

Nanna first found me after seeing the wedding I photographed for their friends Mio and Stephen, and from our first conversation, it was clear their day would be thoughtful, personal, and deeply intentional.

A Rainy Wedding Day in Los Angeles (and Why It Worked)

In Southern California, rain on a wedding day is rare—so of course, Nanna and Eugene’s day brought exactly that.

The morning began at The Proper Hotel, where they got ready just a few floors apart. There was a quiet excitement in the air as everything slowly came together.

From there, we headed to Millwick for their first look.

Because of the rain, a few plans had to shift—but honestly, it only added to the atmosphere of the day. Known as a hidden garden wedding venue in the heart of Los Angeles, Millwick adapted beautifully.

The ceremony space was covered with a clear tent, allowing soft, diffused light to pour in while keeping everyone dry.

It created an unexpectedly intimate and cozy setting—proof that sometimes the unplanned moments shape a wedding day in the best ways.

A Dinner Party–Style Reception Done Right

Nanna and Eugene, alongside their planner, truly brought their vision to life.

The reception felt less like a traditional wedding and more like an elevated dinner gathering—long tables, layered textures, and thoughtful details designed to encourage guests to linger and connect.

Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the evening was filled with heartfelt toasts, laughter, and emotional moments that felt deeply personal.

Nothing felt rushed. Conversations stretched long past dinner, and every part of the experience felt intentional.

Dancing Under the Lights at Millwick

As the night unfolded, the energy shifted effortlessly.

Guests moved from the tables to the dance floor, where a disco ball hung overhead and a large screen projected color and movement across the space—along with Nanna and Eugene’s names.

It added a modern, playful contrast to the garden setting.

What began as an intimate dinner party seamlessly transformed into a full celebration, with everyone dancing late into the night.
