A 3-Day Luxury Destination Wedding at NIZUC Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico
Some weddings feel like an event.
Others feel like an experience.
Blake and Corey’s three-day destination wedding at NIZUC Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico was the kind of celebration that unfolded slowly and intentionally—giving space for connection, beauty, and unforgettable moments with the people they love most.
Both accomplished lawyers with an eye for thoughtful details, Blake and Corey invited 100 of their closest friends and family to travel with them to Mexico, where everyone stayed together at NIZUC for a full wedding weekend that felt equal parts elevated and effortless.
From barefoot dinners on the beach to black-tie elegance overlooking the water, every moment of their wedding weekend was designed to feel immersive, personal, and full of joy.
A Sunset Welcome Dinner on the Beach at NIZUC
The weekend began with a Thursday welcome dinner on a private section of NIZUC’s beach, setting the tone for what was to come.
As the sun dipped toward the horizon, guests arrived in cocktail attire, leaving their shoes at the entrance to fully embrace the sand beneath their feet. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined—an intentional invitation to slow down and settle into the experience.
Vibrant pink and orange floral arrangements added a bold, joyful contrast against the natural tones of the beach, while a swing set directly on the sand became an instant favorite gathering spot.
As dinner wrapped, a Cuban trio began playing, drawing guests toward a cozy lounge area surrounding a firepit. Cushions were scattered across the sand, drinks were refilled, and conversations flowed easily as the sky darkened. It was the kind of evening where time stretches—exactly how a destination wedding weekend should feel.
A High-Energy Rehearsal Dinner Overlooking the Water
For the rehearsal dinner, guests were bussed from the resort to Monro Restaurant, which Blake and Corey rented out entirely for the evening.
Perched above the water with open sides and sweeping views, the space felt dramatic and intimate all at once. After dinner, the evening took an unexpected turn with a jaw-dropping aerial dancer who performed while suspended by her hair, weaving fire sticks through the air as guests watched in awe.
Heartfelt speeches from friends followed, grounding the evening in emotion before the energy shifted once again. An electric violinist kicked off the party, sparklers were handed out, and the celebration quickly turned into a full dance party that lasted late into the night.
It was bold, creative, and unforgettable—perfectly reflective of Blake and Corey’s personalities.
A Black-Tie Wedding Ceremony at NIZUC Resort & Spa
Wedding day arrived with calm anticipation and stunning ocean views.
The ceremony design was timeless and striking: a black rectangular frame adorned with cascading white florals, perfectly framing the turquoise water beyond. Guests arrived in black-tie attire, grabbed cocktails, and made their way to their seats as the ceremony began.
One of the most meaningful touches?
Blake and Corey’s dog served as the ring bearer, instantly bringing laughter and emotion to the ceremony.
The vows were filled with joy, laughter, and happy tears—an honest reflection of a couple deeply loved by everyone present.
Golden Hour Portraits & an Elevated Reception Reveal
After the ceremony, guests mingled during cocktail hour while I took Blake and Corey down to the beach for golden hour portraits, the soft Cancun light wrapping around them as waves rolled in behind us.
One of my favorite moments of the entire weekend happened just after their first look earlier that day. As I was setting them up for portraits with the resort in the background, Corey’s father—whose room happened to overlook the scene—stepped onto his balcony, waving and cheering when he saw them. Blake and Corey immediately waved back, laughing, and I captured that fleeting exchange—one of those unplanned, deeply meaningful moments that can never be recreated.
Before the reception began, Blake and Corey were brought in for a private reveal. Waiting for them was one long candlelit table set on a deck overlooking the water, chandeliers suspended above, and soft light flickering across the space. It was intimate, romantic, and breathtaking.
Dinner, Dancing, and a Celebration That Never Slowed
During dinner, heartfelt speeches from Blake’s brother and father, and Corey’s father filled the night with emotion. The couple cut into a classic all-white cake, keeping the design timeless and elegant.
As the evening transitioned, guests moved into a giant white tent for dancing. Flowing fabric hung from the ceiling, catching the ocean breeze and creating a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere.
After the formal dances, Blake changed into a second dress, and a saxophonist joined the celebration—instantly elevating the energy and setting the tone for a night of nonstop dancing.
The party continued late into the evening, the kind of ending that only happens when everyone is fully present, relaxed, and deeply connected.
