Waterside Norfolk Virginia Engagement

If you cannot tell by looking at these photos, let me tell you, we had the absolute BEST TIME during Dale and Gabby’s engagement session in downtown Norfolk! These two met at Starbucks where Gabby was a Barista at the store Dale had been going to for years. There was some flirting between these two and that led to regular hangouts that were not dates! After about six months of non-date hangouts, Dale and Gabby became an official couple and now after 3 years of being together, these two are engaged!!

Originally for their engagement photos, we wanted to include going to a Starbucks but due to Covid restriction at the time we had to pivot. Since they told me they were CITY PEOPLE, we met up in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, without a plan really and just kind of wandered through the city. We wandered down Granby street and found a great little spot by the fairly new Hilton Hotel. All the people going in and out of the hotel watched as we were being completely silly and having so much fun. We then moved on from that spot and found ourselves at the docks by Waterside and danced during golden hour. As the sun was setting I had them sit on the dock and I leaned out over the water with my camera in hand to get some shots. Let’s just say we were all a little nervous about that haha. As we made our way back to our cars we noticed the streets had arched lights over them so of course, we had to wait for there to be no traffic so we could run down the middle of the street! I mean honestly, that was the only option to consider! Haha

As a photographer that started in a more travel photography/documentary setting, this session was one for the books. It was so fun to show up without a real plan and just come up with magic as we went!
