Uptown Charlotte Edgy Elopement

Ever since I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2020, I have wanted to do a shoot like this. I knew as soon as I took a walk in Uptown Charlotte that it would be the perfect location for a fun elopement. It took me a few years to actually get it together, but I finally did it and it was everything. I called in one of my 2021 couples Nick & Katie who also live in Charlotte to model for me. I found an amazing local florist Meraki Blommor, who worked absolute magic and created the perfect bouquet! I found the perfect dress from Reviveyosoul dress rental company on Instagram. The Long veil and white sunglasses I found on Amazon.

The night before the shoot, we ran into some hiccups. The suit Nick is wearing, is his actual suit that he wore to their wedding. He didn’t realize that at some point during the wedding he ripped his pants (Katie & I were also there and did not remember this). On top of that there was a covid exposure at his work. I only had the dress for a limited time and these two had very limited time in their schedule to make it work. All of this came crashing down on us at like 10:30pm the night before we were supposed to shoot. Honestly it felt like the whole shoot was going to fall apart, but we rallied! Thankfully Nick’s dad had the same pants and came to the rescue on that front and a quick negative test cleared us to move forward!

Now part of my vision for this shoot was to use my flash and shoot at night. So we met up a little before golden hour and explored for a bit. Then once the sun was down we had fun playing with the lights of the city. Walking in the city I would see these old walls with pay phones in them and I just thought it was such a vibe. Now I wanted to incorporate this wall into the shoot so I arranged for us to end up in this area. The payphones with the flash just gave off a retro feel and I loved it. Let me know what you think of this shoot?
