Asheville North Carolina Mountain Engagement

Courtney & Cody grew up in the same town in Roswell, New Mexico, but they did not meet until they had an art class together in school.  They had heard of each other before, but with Cody being a grade above Courtney this was their first official meeting. They then dated on and off again through the rest of high school. The first prom they went to together, Courtney’s uncle let them take his 1967 Eleanor. Now remember that because it will be significant later. When Cody graduated he went off to Texas to play JUCO baseball and  while Courtney was a Senior in High school still. With the long distance they were on and off. When Courtney graduated she decided to attend Arizona State at which point Cody decides he is going to go to Arizona so he walks onto the ASU football team and plays for them for two years while Courtney is on the wakeboarding team. Being on the football team Cody would get to participate in a pro day which he trained super hard for, but the day of he pulls his hamstring. It was super upsetting, but he would have the following year to try again, or so he thought. 2020 struck and that dream was dashed, but there is a program that goes around to some colleges trying to recruit football athletes to NASCAR pit crews. Thankfully this program came to Arizona State before Covid fully hit and Cody tried out. The world goes into lock down shortly after he tries out and things are on pause. In November though he gets a call to come try out for a position in North Carolina. He does great and gets offered the job so both Cody and Courtney make the move out to North Carolina. In July they go back home to visit. While out there Cody really wants to use the Eleanor to Propose (See I told you it was important), so he fixes it back up and gets it running. While sitting in the Eleanor, the car they went to prom in, Cody asks Courtney to marry him and had the ring hanging on a chain on the rearview mirror. It was totally a full circle moment!

And that is how I came to be in the mountains with these two! Courtney found me on instagram and we began to plan for their engagement session. Our first attempt got canceled due to rain and then we had to work around the crazy NASCAR schedule, but when we finally got to meet it was perfect! We hiked up Black Balsam Knob in the Asheville area and then found a little private area of the mountain to watch the sunset as I captured these two lovebirds.
